I needed to take a step back for a bit.
I wrote my “How I Pencil A Graphic Novel” two weeks before I wrote this piece. I had dreams of grandeur for sure! And I did utilize the ideas that I decided on in that post. I had the first page completed, video done, and blog post finished.
The only problem was after it was completed and I was getting ready to edit the video I realized something.
I had burned myself out on of making it. I needed to work on it more and fix some of the kinks in order to get it the way that I want it to look. I know that I want to use Photobashing for my graphic novels (the reason being because of its dreamlike uncanny feeling.) But to do this I need some time to experiment alone and figure out what’s going wrong and how I can fix it so that I can bring you the proper instructional content.
So with that being said I wanted to try experimenting with more impressionist painting techniques that I hope to use in my smaller pieces (Like one-shots or comic strips). So for the next few weeks I’m going to work on some studies from the movie Bambi to help build up my confidence in this impressionistic style.
I’m planning on doing four images for now but they might pop up here and there later on.
The images I will be doing studies on are below.
